Attempts at Change
This show, Leave it to Beaver, featured very minimal attempts at change. It did not try to portray certain views as better or urge people to feel the same way. It simply mimicked exactly how the majority of the society was in the 1950s. There was the hardworking father, the stay-at-home mother, and the two well-behaved sons who received good grades. The Cleaver's were the all-American family from the 1950s. The show glorified this typical lifestyle. The show did not encourage being an outlier or different than average. Everyone in the 1950s wanted to be like the Cleaver's because they were that perfect, successful, happy family.
