Teenager's Styles
Boys and girls in the 1950s were supposed to look put together and appropriate. Boys, like Beaver and Wally, were most often seen wearing collared or nice shirts. The shirts were almost always tucked into khakis, jeans, or other nice pants. Even Wally's friends were wearing similar outfits when they went to check out his suit (see clip under Men's Styles). Children's clothing wasn't as strict, comfort was often the top priority. However, parents were often concerned with how their children looked.
June is very shocked and dismayed at how Beaver has his hair. She makes him comb his hair back. He would have been a disgrace to the family if he were to go to school like that. Click below to learn more about the Cleaver's House!
