House Layout
As mentioned on the Home page, the 1950s was a time of great population growth which led to the development of many suburban areas. Most families, especially those with younger kids, lived in the suburbs for the space and the safety. Most houses were medium sized, like the Cleaver's house (pictured above). The Cleaver's also lived in a suburb. They moved houses, but to another house that was very similar and very close. Their second house, the Pine Street house consists of several rooms (kitchen and laundry room, dining room, living room, den) on the ground floor and at least three bedrooms on the second floor. Ward and June's room has their own bath and a TV. Ward has a den in this house. The garage in both houses served as a place for masculine get-togethers.
The Cleaver's really did have the typical home of the 1950s. They had enough rooms and nice furniture. They lived in the suburbs like most other families during that time period, as well. Click below to read about the Politics found in Leave it to Beaver!
